Problem Statement? Good. Solution? Amazing. But why is this founding team the right group of people to execute on this product and vision? For early stage startups, the Team Slide is arguably the most important slide to investors. The solution could (and probably should) change over time as the company iterates and even pivots around the problem they’re trying to solve. In extreme circumstances, the problem statement could even change as a bigger, more important problem is unearthed or because of some macro-environmental factor. Investors at this stage are really investing in the team above all, so they need to be able to execute on the initial product but also have the grit, determination and humility to adapt to the inevitable ups and downs their startup will face.
The Team Slide is an opportunity for founders to showcase their competence, skills and experience, and for investors to feel secure about the people they’re investing their money in.
