Examples of Vision and Mission Statements

Vision Statements come in all shapes and sizes. To get a sense of what a vision statement is all about, here are a few examples from some well known companies…

Here you can see that some vision statements are made up of just a few words, such as Disney’s very simple but heartwarming: “To make people happy.”

Some vision statements begin to quantify the scale of their mission, such as Microsoft and Nike: “…every person and every organization…;” “…every athlete…”

And some are about changes the founders want to see in the world, such as Tesla and Facebook’s transformational vision statements: “…accelerate the world’s transition…;” “…make the world more…”

In each case, the purpose is to make the reader feel something positive, to believe in a better world, to share in the company’s vision… and to win the reader to the company’s cause.
